Default ex-Depor coach: Miguel Angel Lotina

The official paper Deporsport says Lotina will come and Ribera (former SuperDepor player #4) will be his assistant

I'm starting to be more positive towards Lotina being our coach, maybe an experienced La Liga coach is just what we need right now. I just hope he can be successful for more than just a year.

Just a couple of things:

* Lotina and Irureta are Basques
* Lotina is coming after coaching Celta and Real Sociedad. Just like Jabo

deja vu? a sign of better times?

maybe a good sign carlos...i hope
still not sure about its a good move tho.
If he has a good attacking style and is half the tactician that jabo was, then he's times better than caparos.

to be frank...once he's not in love with the basque clubs like capa was to sevilla, im ok. that's just so unprofessional.

The possibility of having Lotina as our coach has mostly been criticized by Depor fans but the fact is he is an experienced coach who may have what it takes to turn this boat around. Regardless of who comes, I'll be happy because our current manage obviously didn't have faith on the team and nothing is worse than that. So if Lotina comes, welcome....if he comes with Xabi Prieto....AWESOME

I'm starting to get a little more positive towards Lotina. I mean he is very experienced.

A short brief of his last 8 years in Spanish football.
In 1999/2000 he promoted with Osasuna. It was his first year in the club.
In 2000/2001 he managed to stay in LaLiga ending 15th.
In 2001/2002 he and Osasuna finished as number 17.
In 2002/2003 he transfered fto Celta and he ended 4th in Laliga.
In 2003/2004 he and Celta relegated being 19th only 3 points away from being saved.
In 2004/2005 he transfered to Espanyol and he finished as number 5.
In 2005/2006 he and Espanyol ended 15th.
In 2006/2007 he relegated with Sociedad. 5 points away from being saved
.

We should have given him a 1 yr contract as his first seasons with Osasuna, Celta and Espanol were pretty good. It's only once he gets into his 2nd season that things go downhill fast.

MIGUEL ANGEL LOTINA

I chose this picture because he is smiling

Benn has made a short story about him:

It isn't official yet, but everybody knows that he already have a deal with Lendoiro. He will probably sign on Monday.

Judging from the comments on the forum over the last days, I might be one of the few ones who actually welcome Lotina and prefer him over other candidates like Marcelino etc. Welcome Lotina!

Just some minor additions: he was fired from Celta in January when they weren't in the relegation zone and replaced by Radomir Antic. That season they played a great Champions League season under Lotina (not like ours, but still beating Ajax and Milan) and reached - quite an achievement for that team - the 1/8-finals where they were beaten by Arsenal.

Furthermore, Lotina won the Copa del Rey with Espanyol in his last season at Montjuic.

I am not quite happy with Lotina, but it can only get better. Hopefully, he'll be able to make a good 1st season again
