Galician Derbies vs Celta:

1987/06/06. 1986/87 Liga 2ª, Deportivo 0 - Celta 1, promotion play-off league, M 8/10. A veeery polemic match, with a lot of incidents in the stands between fans of both teams and the police. It caused that the rivalry between Depor-Celta and A Coruña-Vigo increased hugely.

Ten year anniversary of this. I forgot that this was actually a very hard fought victory, as Celta was also a CL quality team at this time. They pushed Depor really hard and missed a couple chances, and we took every one of ours!

A really outstanding team performance from everyone who stepped on the pitch for Deportivo that day: The defense did a fantastic job of bending but not breaking against a strong rival, Mauro was his usual composed self (99-100% pass completion rate by my count), Luque tortured Celta's right side with his speed, Valeron was really critical in picking off a couple balls that led directly to goals, and Victor with a hat trick. Fran and Tristan had nice cameos as well.

The 0-5 victory in Vigo happened just before the time I really started following Depor, but reading this made me remember our 0-3 victory at Balaídos a couple of years later, which I did watch live. I rewatched the goals on youtube and had a chuckle when they showed a distraught Fernando Vázquez at the HT-whistle. Completely forgot he was Celta's coach back then

Interesting to see Lotina was their coach when we beat them 0-5. Basically, we took in Celta's failed coaches and both ended up getting Depor relegated to Segunda, great

And don't forget Jabo Irureta, who also coached Celta, reaching qualifying for UEFA, and then came to Depor, to make us Liga champions in 2000 and Copa champions in 2002.

About FV, he didn't relegate Celta. He took the team at Segunda and got the promotion to Primera. Next season they qualified for UEFA. It was in his 3rd season when he was sacked, at matchday 29. His substitute was Hristo Stoichkov, almost without experience, and finally Celta was relegated.

I say we was the better team because of the refery and decos dive when andrade saw the red card and in the second match cesar played for andrade and made the foul that give them the penalty.We searching in the internet nothing found even not any highlights...Anyone have them??
