I liked this guy. He never really played that badly when he got a chance with the first team, but like Beceiro, I have a suspicion that he might just have an attitude problem. He was capable in an attacking sense and still had a lot to learn with his defensive duties. In fairness to the guy, he wants to push on with his career and who can blame him? He might get a start quicker in Almeria's first team than in ours. I wish him good luck.

all the best Raul.. i dont think particularly bright and consistent last year on loan at Mellilla.. so i dont think this is a huge loss..

I'm dissapointed to hear this! In his interviews Raul was always humble but yet ambitious, similar to Alex B, so I wouldnt put him in the same basket as Piscu or Beceira.
The problem is that he is 23, the club has offered him a 1 year extention, and they want to loan him out again for next season. So he's probably thinking next year I'm gonna have to go through all this contract crap again.
I feel the club have treated him badly, only time will tell if he will become a good left back. But looking at our recent history of left backs Ayoze, Rindaroy, Brayan, Stopira, Morel ... etc, its not as if we are strong in this position. I think the least the club could have done was offer him a 2 year deal, loan him out to a segunda team, if he proved himself, then he could have got a spot in the squad the following season.

Brayan Angulo, Rindaroy, Stopira, Morel, Ayoze, Evaldo and Thiago Pinto, players we have signed during the last years for the position of LB.

We had a Fabril player, Raul Garcia, LB, that IMO played very well in the few matches he had with Depor... But Lotina, Oltra and mainly Lendoiro didn't trust the boy (maybe because Raul was born in Coruña, not in Portugal, and is not represented by Mendes), so he ended contract this summer and as Depor sadly/incredibly wasn't interested in his renewal, was free to sign for Almeria.

He began the season playing with the 2nd team, but after the injury of the LB, Raul had his chance and now has finally become a starter in Almeria 1st team during the last 3 Liga games in Segunda. He's doing great, in defence didn't receive any goal and even scored an amazing goal last week against Recre. Aargh! this reminds me of Rack's discussion about giving fabril players a chance! It's about time now!

We're getting youngsters and rejects on loan, so why not give a chance to our own youngsters! They would bleed for the jersey!
