In the very last minute! It was not like a 9 million offer on June 1.

Pandiani came off the bench at the weekend to help set up Birmingham's winner.
The keeper pulled off a good save from Pandiani's header but Julian Gray followed up to score the only goal of the game. The game itself was described as "a terrible advertisement of Premiership Football".

Bruce considering Pandiani offer

Birmingham striker Walter Pandiani
Walter Pandiani could be on his way to Real Mallorca
Birmingham manager Steve Bruce is considering a bid for Uruguayan striker Walter Pandiani, which is £2.2m less than he paid for him six months ago.

La Liga side Real Mallorca have offered just over £800,000 for the 29-year-old, who has scored just one goal in 16 appearances this season.

It would mean a loss for the St Andrews club after he was signed for £3m at the start of the season.

"It's an offer we're looking at," Bruce told the club's website.

The Birmingham boss added: "It's a bit more than £800,000 but there is going to be no decision made just yet."

I thought he would do better the longer he was here. Unfortunately it hasn't quite happened
Birmingham manager Steve Bruce

Pandiani arrived on loan at St Andrews in January from Mallorca's La Liga rivals Deportivo La Coruna and scored four goals in 12 outings.

But he has been unable to have the same effect since joining the club permanently and Bruce has defended his decision to sign Pandiani in the summer.

He said: "He's a good footballer but I thought he would get better the longer he was here. Unfortunately it hasn't quite happened for him this year, but that's football.

"I'm not going to criticise Walter.

"I brought him here because I thought he did excellently for us in the 12 games he played.

"When he came in January he gave everybody a huge lift. I like his personality and I like him as a lad.

"He's moved his family here and moved down the road from the training ground, so he's done all the right things but it hasn't quite happened."

Bruce said he hoped any money received by the club would be used to help him bring in other players to help their scrap against relegation.

The Blues are four points from safety, having collected just 12 points from 16 matches.

Bruce said: "The one thing that you don't want to do is to lose players.

"But I am also mindful of the fact I might need to generate a bit of cash myself and do a bit of wheeling and dealing, so we'll look at every situation and possibility."
