World Football For other football that's not related to Depor. For example: the Primera División, Segunda División A, Segunda División B, the Champions League, EURO 2008, the World Cup 2010, Italy, England, Germany, Turkey etc. |

![]() This topic is supposed to be about clubs lower than Segunda B. There're specific topics about Primera, Segunda A and Segunda B.
The reason I started this is that I questioned what happened to SD Compostela. They played for four years at the highest level (1994-1998) and their best season was 1995/1996. At the end of January 1996 they were 2nd (despite losing 2-0 at Depor) and Early March still 3rd. But they we're 8th at the end of March and eventually finished 10th. In September of that season they had crushed Toshack's Depor 4-0 in Santiago, scoring all their goals in a space of 30 mins. In May 1998 they crushed us 2-6 in La Coruña, but Compos didn't manage to escape relegation. In October 2003 a goal of Tristán decided the Copa del Rey match in Santiago. They experienced a huge drop since 1998 and now play in the Galician Regional Preferente North. This had to do with financial punishment. Last edited by ggeorg : 31-01-2011 at 14:13. |

![]() so in 10 years they went from highest division to (which number is the one u said leon?). that is a huge drop. Clubs that gets financially punished usually come back, but i guess this club didnt..

![]() Can anyone tell me what is the difference between Santiago de Compostela being 2nd in Preferente Autonómica / Grupo Norte (Spain's 5th level) and Compostela being 17th? I think that Compostela is the successor of SD Compostela?
http://www.futbolme.com/0708/index2can.asp?D1=170&pv=5 The city now has another 'big' team with Ciudad Santiago (http://www.ciudaddesantiago.com) who play in Tercera - Grupo I. They are leading their table and definitely will play for a spot in Segunda B next year. http://www.futbolme.com/txt/0708/futbolme_7.asp |

![]() Are you just copying my question? LOL
I think that Compostela is the team which was SD Compostela in the 1990s and beat Deportivo 4-0, and they could still be called SD Compostela and playing in San Lazaro. But there are three teams now: Compostela, Santiago de Compostela and Ciudad Santiago (founded: 1978). However, Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prefere...ica_de_Galicia) claims that Compostela was founded in 1962 and Santiago de Compostela in 2004, exactly in the years when SD Compostela were in financial troubles. So, was there maybe a split in 2004 of SD Compostela into SD Compostela and Santiago de Compostela? Anyway, Compostela is nowadays the worst team of the city. Santiago de Compostela are title contenders in the same league and Ciudad Santiago might even be in Segunda B (the current league of Deportivo B) next year.
