According to the rules, two teams from the same city can't play on the same matchday at home, so la liga arranges the calendar putting the teams from the same city in opposite places. But first the clubs must agree where they want to be. As example number 2 or number 7 in the pot.

Atletico and Real had no problem to reach an agreement, but Betis and Sevilla couldn't. It gives you a hint on how things are between these two clubs. And big surprise, they face each other since the start.

The draw for the 1st and the 2nd round in Copa was made today

What the Spanish federation does is to group the Segunda B and Terceras clubs in the first round, while the Segunda clubs play in the second round.

The draw for the second round:

Celta-Las Palmas
Deportivo-Girona
Hércules-Alcoyano
Huesca-Xerez
Real Murcia-Córdoba

It is a one-leg series with Girona and the match will be played at the Riazor on September 7

I always thought it's pretty weird that Segunda B/Tercera teams are in a different bracket than the Segunda teams in the pre-rounds of the Copa... But I guess they need to make sure that Barca and Real get easy Tercera teams in their first round

Anyway, it's a great draw since we play at home. I'd love to see us reaching the 1/16th finals, so we can play a Primera team.

There are 22 teams in Segunda, so surely there will be 11 winners from Segunda to add to the 13 survivors from SegundaB/Tercera.

11+13= 24 who play one more round and then you have the 12 that join primera.

Barca B and Villarreal B can't play the tournament, so only 20 teams from Segunda are playing the Cup.

Yes, they are gonna be 23, 11 duells and a lucky team receives a "bye". Last year it was Club Portugalete.

Well, while Barca is close to secure the arrival of Cesc Fabregas in another millionare deal, Rayo Vallecano doesn't have enough money to pay its current players and coaching staff. Rayo is on administration and the current officials told coach Jose Ramon Sandoval that he needs to cut his wages in 70%!

Well, he said no and then the officials told him that he would be fired on Tuesday, yes five days before the debut in liga , and with him other players refusing to cut their wages are Movilla, Susaeta, Cobeños and Casado. It seems they are also leaving.

And other clubs like Racing and Zaragoza barely have 18 players to compete, all of this just one week before the kick-off of the new season.

Unbelievable. How can La Liga be considered a top league if these things are going on?

I'm interested to see how Ath. Bilbao does with Marcelo Bielsa as their coach. He made Chile such a fun team to watch, so it will be interesting to see if he can transfer that over to the Basques. He will either be fired after five games or make them a must-see footballing club.
